About the foundation

The Foundation for buddhist studies was founded in 1987 and is based in Hamburg. It promotes knowledge of Buddhism across all traditions.

The exclusive and directly non-profit purpose of the foundation is the promotion of science and research as well as religion, especially the promotion of scientific research work, the promotion of culture and religion of Tibet, the Buddhist religion worldwide and the imparting of knowledge about these areas, especially in the German-speaking world ;it wants to serve interreligious dialogue, peace and thus the welfare of all living beings.

It does this in particular by promoting (1) qualified translations of Buddhist scriptures, (2) Buddhist nuns, (3) training Dharma students (4) attending conferences or lectures or attending them, and (5) researching Buddhist research Religion worldwide.
